Meaning Sabbath

Verse: Luke 6:1-11 

Sabbath, not just a day set aside in the Jewish tradition. The Sabbath is a feast of highly maintained and sacred, even until today. The Sabbath is calculated based on the Jewish calendar, began Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon just in time for sunset. 

The Jews were very fast to hold all the rules of the law. To ensure that any laws are understood and carried out with the best, religious leaders consider it necessary to add the things that have been detailed to any such law. Various additions and then gives rise to many restrictions to doing this and that. 

Lord Jesus was not unaware of all the rules that applied at the time. However, the Lord Jesus also knows that this understanding is wrong understanding. The Sabbath given by God, just for the enjoyment of human as the rest day and the day to worship God. But religious leaders have changed the purpose of God is to be the opposite.Therefore the Lord Jesus pointed out to them that, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath" (5). Jesus' words are an indication that Israel must not place the rules of men is higher than in their reverence to God. 

So also with us, as believers in this present age. The pursuit of piety and personal holiness, should not make us forget the main thing is more a sense of love and compassion for others. What is done by teaching that Jesus is a concern to a fellow human being is part of our worship and reverence to God. We can not say that we love God while at the same time we neglect and ignore our neighbors. Remember that the commandment to love God followed by the command to love others.

Adoption teachings

Verse: Luke 5:33-39 

According to Aaron Beck, a psychiatrist from America, Cognitive distortions are one cause of stress. One type of cognitive distortions is Should statements, namely the pattern of thought "should". People who have such a mindset will hold a rigid rule, without considering the circumstances and conditions. 

It seems that the Pharisees including such a person. They were uncompromising toward what they perceive as violations of religious rules. So no wonder when they questioned the unusual things done by Jesus and his disciples. One of them is a matter of fasting, which they say is a sign of repentance or piety. To answer, Jesus gives some illustrations that express his difference of doctrine and teachings of Jewish leaders. Judaism, taught by the Jewish leaders, is a doctrine that has long enjoyed by the Pharisees. By prioritizing compliance seriously to each of rituals and rules that the demands of these teachings, the Pharisees thought that the best teaching. Rituals and rules must be rigidly executed, regardless of the circumstances and conditions. For example, when the Sabbath day nobody is allowed to do something, even if it helps the sick. 

And not like that the teachings of Jesus. Jesus brought a new covenant, which could not adapt or adopt the old teachings. When you take the example of the Sabbath, for Jesus' Sabbath is a day when the grace of God should be declared as well. So what's the harm if a healer to heal the sick on the Sabbath? 

If we are sensitive, even now many who infiltrated the teachings of Christianity. For example it is said that prayers delivered at twelve o'clock will be heard of God. Is not this kind of adoption that is not done by the teaching of Jesus? Let's explore each of the teaching we hear, let us not be misled.

Bearers or spectators

Verse: Luke 5:17-32 

Power of Jesus has been declared among humans. Healing miracles that Jesus did make people sick and the people around him have hope. 

So when Jesus was teaching in the middle of the crowd, some people came carrying a paralyzed (18). They want to bring the paralyzed to the presence of Jesus, with the hope that Jesus is pleased to heal him. Of course not easily penetrate the crowd by bringing up the lame. But faith in Jesus and the hope of healing the paralyzed to make them give up. Obstacles are not barriers to come to Jesus. So they climbed onto the roof, pry the roof, and lowered the paralyzed with usungannya. This is not an easy job.But despite the hassle, those people have a longing for the disabled experience the miracle of Jesus. Consider, for their recognition of Jesus and the knowledge they will be his authority to encourage them to share their faith with others, though for that they themselves must take pains. 

But there are also people willing to follow Jesus because Jesus himself who immediately called them. For example, Levi. He was a tax collector, positions that looked down upon by his fellow countrymen. 

In either event, the present group of people from different faith positions. They are the Pharisees and scribes. There was no sense of joy because of the healing of the paralyzed or because of conversion of the tax collector. They just watch and the acting in opposition to Jesus. 

When we were there, and do not include people who are directly served by Jesus, where our position? Is it one of the people who brought the paralytic, who believe in Jesus and wants others to also enjoy His love? Or like the Pharisees who act as critics in the audience as well as handyman services, but did not have time to bring people come to Jesus? May God help us to be in the right position.

God or we are out of hosting?

Verse: Luke 5:12-16 

In circumstances of urgency, for example due to serious illness or have needs that must be met, people will usually do anything for the problem is finished. Ask God's will? It is hardly crossed his mind. What exactly is raging alternatives for urgent solutions that can be resolved. 

This differs from the attitude of lepers in this passage. He knows and not the slightest doubt Jesus' power over disease. What he does not know is whether Jesus wanted his illness cured or not (12). He does believe in the power of Jesus, but He did not know whether he deserves His grace. He did not know whether he is pleased to heal him. So how soothing when Jesus replied, "I am willing, be cleansed" (13). Thus, lepers were also recovered from his illness. 

The attitude of the leper was a role model for us to align our desires with God's will.Because we often feel better to know what's better for ourselves, what is more suitable for us, or what should happen to us. So when we pray, then we ask is for our plans done, for our desires come true, or for our expectations come true. We like submit a written request to the Lord immediately signed. When they should be, before we write this letter, we first consult the Lord. Before making plans to live should we pray first, and asked the Lord if the plan is in accordance to His will. Before we pray for our desires, ask first to God, whether it wishes or hopes in accordance with God's plan for our lives. 

We see that the lepers self conscious in front of God and honor God. He knew who the Lord and know how to behave towards God. While many people know that Christ is God, but instead acted as master of him, so do not just rule of God and ask His will.Presumably we're not doing that.

Fishers has catched

Verse: Luke 5:1-11 

Have you ever seen an angler was fishing for fish? Angler fish are the people who are diligent, willing to wait for hours after the capture of a fish. 

Simon Peter and his colleagues is a true fisherman. They worked hard all night to catch fish. Unfortunately they do not produce anything (5). So Jesus' command to actually get them back by doing a less positive response from Peter. Tonight is the best time to catch fish, then why should doing all during the day when at night they do not get fish? While the proposed is the son of a carpenter! How could he know about catching more fish than the fisherman who is experienced in the field? But when Peter finally obey the Word of Jesus, he saw a miracle. Stuffed fish nets to nearly ripped!Even need the help of other boats to accommodate the fish (7). 

Peter was immediately prostrated himself at Jesus' feet (8). Previously Peter calls Jesus as Master, when he called Jesus as Lord. Peter also realizes kerendahannya before Jesus. This is a huge leap in the greatness of the recognition power of Jesus.At first he thinks he is a fisherman reliable, but then he saw Jesus' power of nature, over the lake and fish. This realization was a turning point that produces a big decision in Peter's life. He followed Jesus and the direction his life was changed. 

Awareness of the omnipotence of God and the inability of themselves will make people come to God. So when you hit failure was in a row, so you feel as though unable to stand again, maybe that's when you must come to God. Do not harden your heart and think that you are quite able to solve your problem. Humble heart and invited him to state power and His work in your life. Undoubtedly his grace will descend upon you.

Gnarly

Verse: Luke 4:31-44 

Everyone would love to hear good news, because good news makes us smile face and heart so happy. But reading the Bible yesterday to show how the Nazarene gave the opposite response of a good news. They do not want to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the anointed of God. They were even angry and mean to destroy Jesus (Luke 4:28-29). 

And what about the people of Capernaum on reading today? They were amazed to hear the powerful teachings of Jesus (32). Their astonishment grew when witnessing the power of Jesus over demons possessed a person who is present in the synagogue at the time. Even the devil was shouting his confession that Jesus is "the Holy One of God" (14). Good news that the man who anointed the Lord that will free the captives, has been fulfilled: the person who held the devil Jesus was freed from the shackles of the power of darkness. These events clearly prove messiahship and divinity of Jesus, which was originally questioned by the Nazarene. 

Fulfillment good news is also evident in the next event. Healing Simon's mother-in-law who are connected with fever loud crowd that followed one after another came and asked for healing in the evening also shows Jesus' power over disease and over the demons (38-41). The demons also expressed their recognition that Jesus is the Son of God. 

Here we see the ironic picture: Nazareth did not want to admit messiahship and divinity of Jesus, while demons that humans perceive as the enemy of God, it clearly acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God is holy. How degilnya human heart. 

Until now too many people, who not only refused to recognize Jesus as Lord, but also mocks the divinity of Jesus. We might feel angry or sorry for people like that, but more important is to pray for them that God will touch and His grace comes upon them.

Do not rebel

Verse: Psalm 2 

The main problem we are often not not understand God's will, but do not want to obey. It is these human problems since the first man fell into sin. Is not the devil through the serpent offers an alternative view on the word of God, which raised doubts in people's hearts first, and the question of whether God berikhtikad nice for them? 

Psalm 2 speaks about the attitude of the nations who do not want to obey God's determination. They refused to recognize the ordinances of the Lord upon Israel as the chosen people and David and his descendants will be on the throne of Israel for generations. Refusing to acknowledge God's chosen means doubting ikhtikad good Lord that He cares about the nations and Israel and the king wants to use them to bless the nations of the world. Yet this is God's plan when choosing Israel and commit himself unto them in the Sinai Covenant. See Exodus 19:5-6. Israel bound by treaty to function as a kingdom of priests and holy nation. Kingdom of priests means royal mediator for other kingdoms to know the God of Israel. As a holy nation, Israel has become a model nation alive who knows the Lord. Refusing to acknowledge God's choice is to reject God's sovereignty. Penalize even God. These nations would have subjected him through his servant, who has He is anointed King! 

Are there similarities between ourselves with Israel? Is there a difficult thing we submit to God fully as he entered in 2011 is because we doubt God ikhtikad good to us? Remember, Jesus we just celebrate his arrival in this world, is the King that God set upon all nations in this world. If we refuse to submit to his authority, one day he will come and with His power He will judge us without mercy!

Winning because God's word

Verse: Luke 4:1-13

A theologian once wrote that every detail of human life must diliat from the standpoint of theology. That is, everything that happens in our lives, must be seen from the viewpoint of God, not based on human vision.

This passage shows us how Jesus overcome temptation. At that time the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness (1). After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Hunger is one weak point man. In the state of hungry people can go crazy and dark eyes until can do anything to relieve his hunger. Satan took the opportunity to trap Jesus. He needs food when it will be used Satan to propose ways that do not meet the needs of place, because it does not fit the word of God (2-3). In the second temptation, Satan offered to Jesus dominion over the world through one simple way, namely to worship Satan (6-7). Though Father's plan for Jesus was to suffer first, and then enter into his glory (Luke 24:26). In the third temptation, Satan asks Jesus to tempt God to do something magical for himself (9-11).

In that event, Jesus showed himself as an ordinary human being who can experience the trials. But he did not want to defeat temptation. The trick? He uses the word of God. The Word of God is a weapon we can use also when the devil tried to tempt or deceive us. If we do not know the word of God, we are like soldiers who go into battle without weapons. If so, how can we fight against the enemy? We must lose! In fact, let alone fight, we might actually "enjoy" being waged every temptation the devil because we do not know that it is wrong. So understand the word of God and know what God's will for us, His children, until we can survive the attack of Satan's deception is always trying to impose us.

Authenticate the identity of Jesus

Verse: Luke 3:23-38 

When a person applying for a job then he will attach the files to complete the letter that her application. For example, curriculum vitae, diploma, certificate of good character, and others. Curriculum vitae is certainly related to the self in question only. It was not any institution where people applying for jobs, which request a resume that is equipped with a family pedigree that person. 

Genealogy of Jesus contains seventy-six offspring and each name is written clearly. Genealogy is really long. A unique, Luke started the genealogy of Jesus with Jesus' statement that when it will start the work, and at that time he was about 30 years. Why is that? When we re-read the previous passage, there is written the events which accompanied the recognition of the baptism of Jesus God the Father that He is the Son of God (Luke 3:21). While the genealogy of Jesus ends with the sentence "... son of Adam, the son of God" (38). Here we see that the genealogy of Jesus that was made by Luke as a reference to confirm the story of what happened in the previous passage. Thus the identity of Jesus as the Son of God no doubt. With a description of the authenticity (genuineness) the identity of Jesus before He began His work, though the Gospel of Luke as the author wants readers to understand the wonders of the works of Jesus and the power which He revealed through the work. 

Presumably understanding of the genuineness of the identity of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, bringing us to read and reflect on the Gospel of Luke in the following days so that we increasingly believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, who rule over humans, the universe, disease, death, and the powers Another who tried to undermine the life of mankind. We need not doubt who He is and how to put him in our lives. Presumably this understanding helps us also to give all the space in our lives to Him mastered.

Autentisitas identitas Yesus

Ayat : Lukas 3:23-38

Ketika seseorang melamar pekerjaan maka dia akan melampirkan berkas-berkas untuk melengkapi surat lamarannya itu. Misalnya daftar riwayat hidup, ijazah, surat keterangan berkelakuan baik, dan lain-lain. Daftar riwayat hidup yang dimaksud tentu yang berkaitan dengan diri yang bersangkutan saja. Rasanya belum ada institusi tempat orang melamar pekerjaan, yang meminta daftar riwayat hidup yang dilengkapi dengan silsilah keluarga orang tersebut.

Silsilah Yesus memuat tujuh puluh enam keturunan dan setiap nama ditulis dengan jelas. Silsilah yang benar-benar panjang. Yang unik, Lukas mengawali silsilah Yesus dengan pernyataan bahwa ketika itu Yesus akan memulai pekerjaanNya, dan saat itu Ia berumur kira-kira 30 tahun. Mengapa demikian? Bila kita membaca kembali perikop sebelumnya, di situ tertulis peristiwa pembaptisan Yesus yang disertai pengakuan Allah Bapa bahwa Ia adalah Anak Allah (Luk. 3:21). Sementara silsilah Yesus diakhiri dengan kalimat "... anak Adam, anak Allah" (38). Di sini kita melihat bahwa silsilah Yesus yang dibuat oleh Lukas bagai sebuah rujukan untuk mengkonfirmasi kisah yang terjadi dalam perikop sebelumnya. Dengan demikian identitas Yesus sebagai Anak Allah tidak perlu diragukan lagi. Dengan keterangan mengenai autentisitas (keaslian) identitas Yesus sebelum Ia memulai pekerjaan-Nya, Lukas sebagai penulis Injil seolah menginginkan pembacanya memahami keajaiban karya-karya Yesus dan kuasa yang Dia nyatakan melalui karya itu.

Kiranya pemahaman akan kesejatian identitas Yesus Kristus sebagai Anak Allah, mengantar kita untuk membaca dan merenungkan Injil Lukas di hari-hari berikut sehingga kita semakin mengimani Yesus Kristus sebagai Anak Allah, yang berkuasa atas manusia, alam semesta, penyakit, maut, dan kuasa-kuasa lain yang mencoba merongrong kehidupan umat manusia. Kita tidak perlu meragukan lagi siapakah Dia dan bagaimana menempatkan Dia dalam kehidupan kita. Kiranya pemahaman ini menolong kita juga untuk memberi semua ruang dalam kehidupan kita untuk Dia kuasai.

No Robinhood

Ayat : Amsal 2:7-13

Ayat emas : Mazmur 37:37 = “Perhatikanlah orang tulus dan lihatlah kepada orang yang jujur, sebab pada orang yang suka damai akan ada masa depan.”

Seorang anak mengaku sering mengambil duit ortunya untuk membantu pacarnya yang lagi kesulitan keuangan. Pacarnya butuh uang tambahan untuk keperluan sekolah. Anak ini terpaksa mencuri duit ortunya sendiri karena kalau minta, pasti nggak dikasih apalagi untuk membantu pacarnya yang nggak disetujuin sama ortunya. Ketika seorang hamba Tuhan mengingatkannya untuk tidak membiasakan diri mencuri, ia menjawab dengan percaya diri, “Aku melakukannya demi kebaikan. Firman Tuhan kan menyarankan jika kita punya baju dua, maka berikanlah satu kepada yang nggak punya. Apa salahnya aku melakukannya untuk membantu orang yang nggak punya.”

Fren, dalam dunia kerohanian dan kebenaran, nggak ada yang namanya Robinhood. Hidup kita bukanlah dongeng atau cerita heroic dimana kita seperti merampok orang jahat dan membagikan hasil rampokan kita kepada orang baik yang miskin. Mencuri duit ortu bukanlah hal yang mulia meskipun kita beralasan bahwa itu demi kebaikan. Bahkan ada beberapa anak Tuhan yang memakai kartu kredit orang tua mereka untuk membelikan barang mewah yang katanya bakal dipakai sendiri padahal buat ngasih kado sama pacarnya. Itu kan namanya menipu ortu.

Orang yang hidup jujur pasti akan memiliki masa depan yang cerah di dalam Kristus. Setiap orang jujur akan diberkati dengan banyak cara dan berkat itu akan mengalir dalam hidupnya tanpa henti dan tanpa penghalang. Namun ketidakjujuran dengan alasan apapun, terlebih jika itu jauh dari kebenaran Tuhan, maka hasilnya bakal minus alias jauh dari kata berkat. Ketidakjujuran hanya menghasilakan kutuk dan tidak ada jaminan masa depan yang indah. So, kalau mau punya masa depan yang cerah, hiduplah jujur di hadapan Tuhan.

Terima Kasih buat Kegagalan

Ayat : Matius 11:28-30

Ayat emas : Yohanes 14:27 = “Damai sejahtera-Ku Kuberikan kepadamu, dan apa yang Kuberikan tidak seperti yang diberikan dunia kepadamu.”

Setiap orang pernah mengalami kegagalan. Orang-orang yang saat ini kita lihat telah mengalami sukses dulu juga sama seperti kita, mereka itu pernah berada di bawah. Mereka pernah gentar menghadapi kekalahan. Mereka pernah kehilangan gairah hidup saat menghadapi tantangan.

Yang luar biasa dari kebanyakan orang-orang sukses itu adalah mereka gigih berjuang, pantang menyerah dan berjiwa besar saat mengalami kegagalan. Misalnya Rasul Petrus. Petrus pernah gagal. Ia pernah menyangkali Tuhan kita sebanyak tiga kali, namun setelah ia sadar, ia bangkit kembali dan menjadi pengubah dunia yang luar biasa. Tidak kalah dengan itu Rasul Paulus, Ia pernah gagal, ia pernah salah arah, pernah menganiaya banyak sekali orang-orang percaya dan membunuh mereka. Namun, akhirnya setelah bertemu dengan Tuhan Yesus secara pribadi, Paulus bangkit dan menang atas kegagalannya di masa lampau. Ia menjadi Rasul yang paling giat bekerja bagi Kerajaan Tuhan kita, Yesus Kristus.

Fren, orang yang gagal seringkali gelisah, ia selalu merasa tertuduh karena ia selalu saja merasa kalah. Orang yang gagal selalu murung dan cemberut, hatinya terluka dan terkadang juga timbul gejala-gejala traumatis nggak berani melangkah lagi. Takut kalah dan gagal lagi. Padahal tentu Tuhan mempunyai maksud dan tujuan yang pasti atas setiap kegagalan kita. Justru kegagalan adalah cara dimana Tuhan ada untuk menguatkan kita. Ketidakberdayaan atas kegagalan juga merupakan sisi yang baik dimana kita bisa mencari sandaran yang tepat, yaitu dating kepada Yesus Kristus.

Fren, berterima kasihlah selalu kepada Tuhan dalam segala hal karena ia akan selalu ada untuk kita.

Cinta Jangan Bodoh

Ayat : 2 Tawarikh 7:19-22

Ayat emas : Hakim-hakim 10:13 = “Tetapi kamu telah meninggalkan Aku dan beribadah kepada allah lain, sebab itu Aku tidak akan menyelamatkan kamu lagi.”

Seorang pemuda mendapatkan Gold Ticket untuk bekunjung ke sebuah perusahaan raksasa di Amrik dan ia mendapatkan kesempatan untuk bekerja di perusahaan tersebut ketika ia tamat kuliah nanti. DIjamin langsung diterima tanpa test karena dengan mendapatkan Gold Ticket itu ia telah menjalani berbagai test. Inilah yang ia cita-citakan sekian lama untuk bekerja di perusahaan raksasa itu dan itu pula harapan ortunya agar ia bisa sukses. Ia dijadwalkan berkunjung ke perusahaan itu pada tanggal 7 Maret dan dikarantina selama 2 minggu di sana. Namun, semua ia sia-siakan hanya karena cinta. Pacarnya gak setuju jika ia bekerja di perusahaan raksasa itu karena jika demikian ia akan sangat sibuk dan selama 3 tahun akan ditugaskan di berbagai kota di setiap anak perusahaan di seluruh Amrik. Ia merobek tiket emas itu dan memilih hidup tanpa kerja dan pacaran tanpa masa depan yang jelas.

Fren, coba itung deh, ada berapa banyak anak-anak Tuhan yang merobek tiket mereka masuk sorga gara-gara cinta. Mereka meninggalkan iman mereka  kepadaTuhan hanya gara-gara cinta. Ketika orang fasik merayu mereka dengan cinta dan diyakinkan oleh orang fasik lainnya dengan memutarbalikkan kebenaran itu sendiri, anak-anak Tuhan pun tertipu dan meninggalkan Tuhan. Benar-benar cinta yang bodoh. Keselamatan dan hidup yang kekal dibuang begitu saja hanya karena cinta yang gak ada masa depannya dan gak ada jaminan pasti.

Fren, kita boleh dekat dengan siapa saja, bahkan kita boleh punya teman special yang bikin kita nyaman, namun utamakanlah cinta yang sepadan, seimbang dan tetap berada dalam koridor iman dalam Kristus. Jangan buat cinta bikin kamu buta sama kebenaran.

I Hate You X

Ayat : Imamat 19:17-19

Ayat emas : Imamat 19:17 = “Janganlah engkau membenci saudaramu di dalam hatimu, ... janganlah engkau mendatangkan dosa kepada dirimu karena dia.”

Karena nggak cocok sama pacarnya, Bee(disamarin) mutusin pacarnya. Soalnya cowoknya itu suka cemburu, pemarah, malas, jorok, dan nggak satu visi sama Bee. Bee juga suka dilarang ini dan itu dan cowoknya suka nuntut banyak. Dan alasan Bee lainnya adalah, ia masih SMA kelas 1, jadi kayaknya ribet banget kalau mesti pacaran. Ia putuskan pacaran setelah kuliah atau kerja nanti plus dia mau berdoa sama Tuhan supaya memberinya jodoh yang tepat jadi dia nggak usah pacaran, putus, pacaran lagi, dan seterusnya. Pacarnya ngamuk nggak mau nerima, apalagi ketika Bee makin dekat sama teman-temannya yang rata-rata cowok. Ia piker, Bee selingkuh dan jalan sama cowok lain. Ia mulai kirim e-mail pake acara maki-maki dan kirim sms dengan makian juga.

Fren, mengapa banyak dari antara kita yang membiarkan kebencian menguasai hati kita. Meskipun orang lain menyakiti kita, membuat kita kecewa, atau mengkhianati kita, tetaplah jaga hati. Emang nggak mudah menerima kenyataan pahit, namun lebih pahit lagi kalau kebencian itu bercokol dalam hati, membuat hidup kita sengsara, jauh dari damai sejahtera dan nggak bakal hidup tenang. Kepahitan juga bisa menimbulkan sakit secara fisik, bisa stress, gila, stroke, bahkan kanker.

Fren, firman Tuhan berkata janganlah engkau membenci saudaramu di dalam hatimu, apalagi mendatangkan dosa kepada dirimu karena dia. Tuhan mengingatkan kita bahwa sakit hati adalah racun hidup yang akan mematikan kita dari dalam. Jadi, barjaga-jagalah, jangan sampai racun itu membunuh kamu.

Pengkhianat

Ayat : Mazmur 59:6-8

Ayat emas : Maleakhi 2:16b = “Maka jagalah dirimu dan janganlah berkhianat!”

Pada tahun 2001, seorang pemuda melakukan pembantaian besar di kerajaan Nepal. Pangeran Nepal, Dipendra, membunuh kedua orang tuanya, kedua saudaranya dan belasan orang lainnya dengan senjata otomatis. Kemudian ia menembak dirinya sendiri. Dipendra suka banget ama narkoba dan ia kecewa karena bokapnya nggak setuju dengan wanita pilihannya. Bokapnya cuma pengen ia bias mendapatkan pendamping hidup yang bisa menyadarkan ia untuk tidak terlibat dengan narkoba bukan dengan sesame penyuka narkoba. Ia mengkhianati bokapnya yang sekaligus rajanya. Ia tidak mau tunduk pada otoritas dan tidak mau menerima nasihat bokapnya demi kebaikannya.

Fren, kita juga kudu sadar bahwa kita sering kali berusaha ‘membunuh’ otoritas Bapa atas hidup kita dengan cara yang lebih sadis dari senjata otomatis. Ada banyak anak-anak Tuhan yang tersenyum di gereja sedangkan di luar gereja mereka menjadi anak-anak liar yang tidak peduli dengan kebenaran Tuhan. Bukan hanya Bapa yang kita ‘bunuh’ dengan perbuatan kita, tetapi sesame manusia, umat Tuhan lainnya.

Fren, mari kita menjaga diri kita agar kita tidak mengkhianati Tuhan dengan perbuatan jahat kita. Terlalu banyak janji yang kita ucapkan ketika kita membutuhkan pertolongan-Nya namun itu hanya sekedar di mulut saja. Kita selalu saja mengkhianati Dia meskipun kita telah berjanji akan setia kepada-Nya, taat dan mendengarkan setiap nasihat dan perintah-Nya. Kita pasti tahu apa yang terjadi dengan Yudas Iskariot yang mengkhianati Tuhan, ia mati sia-sia, sama seperti Dipendra yang mati sia-sia dan tidak menghasilkan apa-apa dari pengkhinatannya terhadap ayahnya sendiri.

Enam banding satu

Ayat : Kejadian 2:1-7

Kata "istirahat" dimaknai sebagai berhenti sejenak untuk melepaskan lelah. Lalu bila Allah berhenti dari kegiatan penciptaan alam semesta (2-3), apakah itu terjadi karena Dia merasa lelah dan perlu berhenti untuk beristirahat? Tentu bukan. Dia berhenti pada hari ketujuh untuk menunjukkan bahwa karya penciptaan-Nya telah selesai.

Seolah sesuatu yang memuncak menjadi klimaks, Allah menyebut segala sesuatu yang Dia ciptakan pada hari kesatu sampai hari kelima sebagai sesuatu yang baik, lalu ciptaan pada hari yang keenam Dia sebut sebagai sesuatu yang amat baik. Kemudian Ia memberkati hari yang ketujuh serta menguduskannya.

Berhentinya Allah pada hari ketujuh memberikan struktur waktu bagi manusia, yaitu ada tujuh hari dalam seminggu. Selama enam hari kita diperintahkan untuk bekerja, sementara pada hari ketujuh kita wajib berhenti dari segala pekerjaan kita untuk kemudian beristirahat. Bukankah cukup banyak waktu yang diberikan kepada kita untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup kita? Hari ketujuh itu adalah hari pemulihan bagi diri kita secara keseluruhan. Hari, saat kita bisa berhenti dari rutinitas kerja selama enam hari, saat kita dipulihkan, saat kita bisa bersama-sama saudara seiman datang menghadap Allah sebagai komunitas orang beriman, saat kita bisa menghangatkan kasih, kebersamaan, dan keutuhan dalam keluarga. Dengan demikian, ketika memasuki hari berikut kita bisa berada dalam stamina yang maksimal serta semangat yang penuh untuk kembali beraktivitas. Allah telah merancang kita untuk membutuhkan waktu istirahat, maka jangan kita abaikan pola itu. Bila kita tidak peduli, berarti kita mengurangi keefektifan kita dalam berkarya. Padahal Allah telah memberikan pola yang penting bagi kesehatan dan produktivitas kita dalam berkarya.

Mungkin saja kita memiliki pekerjaan yang tidak memudahkan kita mengambil hari istirahat pada hari Minggu. Namun prinsip yang jelas, ambil waktu bagi diri Anda sendiri, bagi keluarga, bagi persekutuan Anda dengan Tuhan, dan sesama seiman.

Harmoni dalam ciptaan

Ayat : Kejadian 2:8-25

Urutan penciptaan alam semesta memperlihatkan betapa tingginya hikmat Allah. Sebelum menciptakan benda-benda langit, terlebih dahulu Allah menciptakan terang dan gelap. Sebelum menciptakan burung-burung dan ikan-ikan, Allah terlebih dahulu menciptakan cakrawala dan laut. Dan Ia menyediakan tanah daratan sebelum menciptakan hewan darat dan manusia.

Allah menciptakan wadah tempat mereka hidup terlebih dahulu. Eden adalah taman, tempat Allah menumbuhkan berbagai tanaman. Di antara berbagai tumbuhan di Eden, Allah menempatkan dua pohon: pohon kehidupan dan pohon pengetahuan tentang yang baik dan yang jahat (9). Eden adalah tempat yang dibuat Allah untuk menjadi habitat yang cocok bagi Adam. Di situlah Adam akan bekerja, mengusahakan dan memelihara taman itu (15). Jelas kita baca bahwa kerja bukanlah kutukan bagi manusia akibat jatuh ke dalam dosa. Kerja adalah mandat Allah.

Selanjutnya, untuk pertama kali Allah melihat bahwa ada sesuatu yang tidak baik, yaitu kesendirian manusia. Allah melihat bahwa Adam memerlukan penolong yang setara dengan dia. Penolong di sini bukanlah suatu posisi yang bersifat inferior sebab Allah melihat posisi penolong sebagai posisi untuk melayani, dan melayani adalah sesuatu yang penting dalam pandangan Allah (bdk. Mat. 20:25-28). Mengapa Allah memakai rusuk Adam untuk menciptakan Hawa? Karena meski ada perbedaan antara laki-laki dan perempuan, sesungguhnya mereka berasal dari substansi yang sama. Dalam kesatuan itu, prioritas laki-laki akan berubah, dari keluarganya kepada istrinya. Bukan lagi sebagai anak bagi ayah ibunya, tetapi sebagai pemimpin bagi istrinya. Dan kesatuan antara sang pemimpin dan sang penolong juga bertujuan agar alam ini terpelihara dan dimanfaatkan dengan baik untuk kepentingan manusia juga. Betapa indah harmoni yang Tuhan ciptakan. Apakah keindahan harmoni itu tampak juga dalam kehidupan keluarga Anda? Kiranya Tuhan, yang adalah Kepala di dalam keluarga, menggenapkan maksud-Nya dalam kehidupan keluarga Anda.
